The Taishan state orphanage is the only 'home' these children have ever known in their short time on earth. These children have physical, emotional, and psychological needs; every care will be taken to provide a well-rounded life for them while in the state orphanage. Our Taishan project will be led by a Site Coordinator who will teach local villagers of Nam On to nurture, care and love two children that they have been assigned in the orphanage. This program is intended to provide the orphans with a sense of love, security, education and hope for the future.
Our Commitment
To work with the people of the community as “One Heart” to develop a loving, nurturing ecological village for Chinese babies.
1. To create a largely self-reliant community through integrated and ecological food and energy production systems.
2. To provide ecological resource management and sound community organizing that will form the basis for sustainable community development.
Sponsors Will Receive:
1. A photograph and information on the two children who have been specially chosen for you.
2. Information on their nanny and the community where they live.
3. A quarterly letter and progress report with an updated photo every six months from your children’s nanny which will keep you updated on how your generous gifts have a mad a real difference in their lives.
4. A fact-filled brochure describing the conditions in your child's country.
5. An annual update from the Project Director.
Ways to Participate:
1. Cards or letters and a picture of you and your family would be most welcome; holiday or birthday cards are a great way to keep in touch and let your child know you care
2. Meet your children in person. You and/or your family are welcome to visit your children and volunteer to care for them for a short or extended stay. This will allow you to see first hand how your donations have given them hope. You can stay in the Nam On Village, experience the local Chinese culture and live among the local people; an unforgettable experience. The Chinatown Business Centre will help arrange for your visit.

Your financial gift will benefit not just your two children in the orphanage, but will also help the community in which he or she lives by providing a healthy, nurturing environment and opportunities for villagers to learn new skills in child care management.

Sponsor Village Development & Environmental Initiatives
Through expert training, the villagers will grow cottage industries; Nam On will become known as a “model” Eco Village and Child Care Centre that will promote volunteer tourism. Volunteer visitors will have the opportunity to stay in the village for days, weeks, or months while contributing to the development of the community. In keeping with our environmental commitment, we will minimize vehicular traffic in the village.
